Our Statement

　2003年８月、「ドゥロワー」が青山の骨董通りにショップをオープンしてから8年が経つ。以来、心斎橋、福岡と主要都市へ出店。2011年8月4日にオープンした名古屋店を含め、現在までに全国で6店舗を構えるに至った。
　「ドゥロワー」の名は、“引き出しの上段に上質な物を入れた”という英国の古き良き慣習に由来する。表層的な流行にとらわれず、歴史や伝統に裏打ちされた本質的な価値を追い求めること。齢を重ねるごとに魅力を増す大人の女性、すなわち品格を大切にする人たちにふさわしいワードローブを作ること。つねに新しさが求められるファッションの世界で、刹那的ともいえる高揚感と普遍性を共存させようとする試みは難しいが、よりエレガントによりデリケートに服作りに取り組むことによって、「ドゥロワー」はつねに新しい女性像と独自の世界観を追求してきた。
　そのクリエイションは、生地の製作から始まり、アイテムによって紳士服の伝統的な仕立て技術を応用したマスキュリンなテーラリング、女性らしさを演出する立体感を重視したパターンといった具合にイメージに即した方法で作られていく。もちろん、生地やデザインだけでなく、縫製も同様にその仕上がりのイメージに応じて方法が選択される。
　しかし、「ドゥロワー」の服は、あまり多くのことを語ることを好まない。建築家のミース・ファンデル・ローエが残した言葉に「レス・イズ・モア（Less is more）」という有名なフレーズがあるが、より少なく語ることはより多くを語ることであり、いくらその工程が複雑で、背景に蘊蓄があったとしても、服をまとう人の感情を揺さぶる美しさがなければ、何の意味もなさないと知っているからだ。
　日常着であれ、非日常へと誘うドレスであれ、やはりファンタジーのない洋服はつまらない。最新のクリエイションでありながらも、女性たちがいつまでも宝物のように愛し続けたいと思えるエモーショナルな服。そして、瞬間を永遠に変える、魅惑的な引き出しを作るために。

It’s been 8 years since “Drawer” opened its flagship shop on Kotto street in Aoyama. Since then, they continually located new shops in major cities such as Osaka and Fukuoka. There are now 6 “Drawer” shops in Japan including Nagoya shop opened up on August 4th 2011.

The name “Drawer” comes from good old English custom of keeping most valuable things in the top drawer. “Drawer” is not affected by fads but influenced by real values based on history and tradition. To make clothing fits for matured women aging gracefully is the idea. Although it is challenging to keep a good balance between fleeting excitement and universality in this fast-paced fashion world, aimed with more elegance and delicacy, “Drawer” always pursues alternative type of womanhood and individualistic point of view.

The creation of “Drawer” is based on their mental pictures. If they want to make a masculine piece, it’d be made with traditional men’s tailoring. If some items need feminine feel, three-dimensional spatial pattern would actualize the vision. Those mental pictures have implications for the manufacturing process of clothing as much as its material and design.

However clothing by “Drawer” does not like to talk a lot. As the famous quote by the legendary German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe goes “less is more”, fewer words can speak volumes. “Drawer” knows that even with complex processes and steadfast philosophy, heart-moving beauty is the crucial factor of quality clothing.

No matter if it is everyday wear or extraordinary attire, clothing without fantasy is boring. Modern women need chic but emotional clothing they can fondly treasure. To satisfy those ladies, “Drawer” continues to create magical drawers that can change a moment forever.
